Protect Yourself from Scams!
The vast majority of ads on "Cold Station" are posted by honest and trustworthy people. While you can do great business here, it is important to follow these simple common-sense rules to prevent any fraud attempts.
Our Advice
- In-Person Inspection First: Always deal with people you can meet in person. In the refrigeration field, this means inspecting the equipment (e.g., refrigerators, cold rooms, spare parts) or meeting the service provider (technician) on-site before reaching an agreement.
- Do Not Send Upfront Payments (Deposits): Avoid sending any money (as a deposit) before receiving and verifying the product or service, especially via Western Union, MoneyGram, or other untraceable payment systems.
- Transactions Within the Kingdom: Do not send money or products outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The "Cold Station" platform focuses on the local market.
- Beware of Checks and Transfers: Do not accept bank checks. Be extremely cautious of fake bank transfer screenshots, and wait until the amount is actually confirmed in your bank account.
- Verify the Other Party's Identity: Inquire about the person or company you are dealing with. Request a clear name, phone number, and verifiable address. If it is a company, do not hesitate to ask for a copy of the Commercial Registration (CR).
- Keep Copies of Everything: Maintain copies of all correspondence (emails, messages within the platform, etc.) and the other party's contact details.
- Too Good to Be True Offers: If an offer seems too good to be true (e.g., modern cooling equipment at a very low price), it is likely a scam attempt. Avoid proceeding with it.
How to Recognize Scam Attempts?
Most scams display one or more of the following characteristics:
- The person claims to be abroad or constantly traveling.
- The person refuses to meet you in person or refuses to allow you to inspect the equipment using flimsy excuses.
- They insist on prepayment via Western Union, MoneyGram, or ask for a check.
- The messages are written in broken Arabic or another language for no apparent reason.
- The ad text appears very generic, as if copied and pasted, and lacks precise technical details about the cooling equipment.
- The offer seems irrationally attractive (a price significantly lower than the market rate).
